Why do you need a NPI?  In order to get Medicaid reimbursement, you must provide NPI numbers for any referrals from physicians, physician groups, physician assistants, and ARNPs.

Do you have your (NPI) National Provider Identifier number yet?
There three ways to obtain your NPI:

1. Online application at the NPPES website at www.NPPES.cms.hhs.gov/forms (CMS-10114)
2.  Call the NPI Enumerator at 1-800-465-3203 to request an application
3.  Authorize an employer or other organization to obtain the NPI for you through bulk enumeration known as Electronic File Interchange (EFI).

NEW DEADLINEMay 23, 2008, CMS systems will only accept the NPI. Retain the notification documentation that NPPES sends you containing your NPI!! For more information:  go to www.cms.hhs.gov/NationalProfldentStand/
